MISS ALACHUA COUNTY USA 2009:  LINDSEY BOLENDER

MISS ALACHUA COUNTY TEEN 2009:  BROOKELL BARBER

Meet Lindsey...

Hello everyone! I am Lindsey Marie Bolender. I am 18 and grew up in the small town of Auburndale, Florida. I graduated from Auburndale High School in 2007. While in high school I was in leadership, student government, senior executive committee, a cheerleader, news anchor, prom queen and voted Miss AHS by my teachers. I was also Miss North Central Florida Teen USA 2007. Currently, I am a freshman at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. I am working on a degree in Journalism so that I can transfer to the University of Florida and attain my degree in Public Relations. My goal is to someday have my own Food Network show and be an event planner where I can help people in their everyday lives and plan their most important days.

When not studying, I enjoy cooking, baking, traveling and coaching my middle school cheerleading squad back in Auburndale. I am truly blessed to have the best family. My mom, dad and little brother Clay are always there for me and mean the world to me. I have the greatest friends in the world, and put God first in everything I do. He has blessed me beyond comprehension.

As long as I can remember, my house has been filled with Florida Gator memorabilia and even our Christmas tree each year is Gator themed. Moving to Gainesville this year and now being able to represent this area as Miss Alachua County USA 2009 is like having the greatest dream ever come true. I will spend this year working with various charities and representing this area with all of my heart. As Mother Teresa said, “You can do no great things in life, only small things with great love”. I will work hard to live up to this quote by doing little things everyday that will show my love to many people and our community in many ways.

I want to send a huge thank you to Chelsee Atkins for being a wonderful woman and a great role model and for welcoming me into her family. I love you and can’t say enough how much it means to me to be Miss Alachua County USA 2009!

With GREAT Love,

Lindsey

Meet Brookell...

Greetings everyone!  My name is Brookell Barber and I am 17 years old and a junior at Ridge Community High School in Davenport, Florida and a High Honors Student.  I'm an active member of Choir, Dance Aesthetics, and have served as the choreographer for my school Show Choir for the last 2 years.  I have 3 brothers named Brandon, Blair and Brixten all of which are so supportive of me in whatever I pursue and a pet Schnauzer named Blake who supports me only because I give him treats even when he isn't supposed to have them.

My family and I relocated to Florida 3 years ago from Dallas, Texas in hopes of furthering my dreams of becoming a model, singer and actress.  While living in Dallas, I competed in several Pageants and Talent Shows where I held many different titles which allowed me the opportunity to be a positive influence on the lives of other young teens in my community and my school.

After moving to Florida I was crowned Miss Black Central Florida Teen which has been a great experience as well as an honor.  Also since relocating to Florida, I've signed with several talent Agencies throughout Orlando, Tampa, and Miami, where I've booked jobs such as print ad, fashion shows and even an audition for a commercial featuring Michael Jordan which was very exciting because I was fortunate enough to receive a call back (even though I didn't book the job the second time around).

Although I have a desire to pursue my goals as a Model, Singer and Actress, after meeting my cousin for the first time who was born with cleft lip, my greatest desire is to one day become a Plastic Surgeon in hopes of giving back to children born with physical deformities, the beauty in which they feel deprived of so that they can one day reconnect with their inner beauty.

As always, I am so grateful and humble to have this title which I will proudly represent to the fullest...... Congratulations to my new SISTER QUEENS and thank you so much Chelsee and your staff for this great opportunity.
