MISS NORTH CENTRAL FL USA 2009:  BRITTNEY CASTLES

MISS NORTH CENTRAL FL TEEN USA 2009:  KATIE GREENE

Meet Brittney...

Hey everyone! My name is Brittney Nicole Castles. I am 20 years old and was born and raised in Ocala, Florida.  I want to start off by thanking God, my family and friends, and all my true supporters who have stuck with me and supported me these past few years while competing.  We are in for a year!  I finally did it and I couldn’t have done it without the help of all of you.

This really will be a year to remember.  I plan to use my title and crown as a tool to speak to my community.  I already have a few events planned!  In July I hope to make my family and community proud as I represent North Central Florida in the Miss Florida USA pageant.  I plan to prepare as much as possible to make my mark in the Top 15!  A week before I was crowned I had a chance to attend the Miss USA pageant in Vegas.  I had a wonderful time and met so amazing people including Riyo (Miss Universe) and one of my idols, Ken Paves– Jessica Simpson’s hairstylist!  It was an experience of a lifetime and a trip I will never forget!

I attended Vanguard High School c/o 2005, where I was an avid member of Anchor Club, Varsity Cheerleading (4yrs), Track (3yrs), Fellowship of Christian Athletes President (1yr) Vice President (1yr) , WVHS News Anchor and on Homecoming Committee.  I had the wonderful chance to represent my High School and community at Girls State 2004 ( www.alafl.org ).  I was voted Senior Favorite: Most Spirited and Biggest Klutz :]  I was also on my Senior Homecoming Court, a Anchor on our morning T.V show, and had the honor of being Prom Queen of 2005.  I also had a chance to be on a wonderful cheerleading squad.  We stuck together four years and won a state championship! My High School experience was nothing short of amazing!  I later moved to Gainesville for school at SFCC. Since then I have moved back to Ocala and have completed school at The Salon Professional Academy.  I just began a successful career in the beauty industry as a hairstylist.  I am excited to start working with women and helping them feel great about themselves.  In the future I hope to open my own trendy Salon & Boutique.  I want to put something together that is new and fresh... something that Ocala has never seen before!

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with friends and family at the lake.  I love fishing (I even have my own PINK fishing pole!) and boating.  I also enjoy shopping, laughing, laying out, SweetTea, and spending time with my two little yorkie terriers: Dasher & Ranger.  I have a busy and fulfilling life!  have even had a taste of modeling. In 2006 I was in Ocala Magazine ( http://www.ocalamagazine.com/specPubsNews/templates/features.aspx?articleid=784&zoneid=3 ) for clothing ads.  And now, I can not wait to see where this journey will take me.

A big thank you to Chelsee. The past three years competing for you have been great. You are a wonderful, caring person with the biggest heart.  You and your family have been nothing but nice to me. Thank you and I love you!  To my new sister Queens, Lindsey, Lucette, Victoria, Natalie, Katie, Brookell & Kelly (Nikki, Megan, Noelle & Jackie you count too) I can't wait to spend the year working next to you.  You all are beautiful and have the brains to go with it! State will be awesome!  I love you guys!

With Love from the Sunshine State,

Brittney Castles

Meet Katherine...

Hello everyone!

My name is Katherine Olivia Greene. I am a 17 years old Junior at Durant High School where I am very involved in Junior Civitian, Leo Club, National Honor Society, as well as holding the officer position of Public Relations within Student Government. After high school, my goal is to attend the University of Florida, majoring in Public Relations. GO GATORS! One day, I will be working for a large corporation promoting and planning their events.

When I am not at school, I work at the Athletic Club of Brandon. I not only love my job, but the environment and the awesome people I’m surrounded by. I also have a passion for helping others. I have been heavily involved in Relay for Life for the past 3 years. I help out at Operation Compassion, a local food bank, as well as spending countless hours keeping score at my little brothers wrestling tournaments. Spending time with my family, faith and friends is extremely important to me.

I am blessed to have the BEST support group of family and friends anyone could wish for. My mom, Terry, is an amazing person, coach, and shoulder to lean on. She is with me every step of the way, always pushing me to my fullest and helping me pursue me dreams. My dad, Jack, is a math teacher at the school I go to. At the end of the day, I couldn’t imagine going through high school without him being right down the hall. My older sister Cydney is always a phone call away. She attends the University of Florida and does her best to be at my events. She’s even been known to “drag” her friends along, ensuring I have a great cheering section! And then there is my little brother Dakota. Although he is only 11 he is the best! Not only is he there to cheer me on, but Dakota always has great feedback for me! I would be remiss, if I didn’t give a huge “thank you” to my Auntie Kim. With (3) small children at home, she’ll still travel the state with me in pursuit of my dreams. And last but not least, Miss Brigittia and her entire team at My Girl Friend’s Place Boutique for being with me from the beginning. And to everyone else who has supported me, offered advice, and words of encouragement!

I feel honored and privileged to represent North Central Florida as your 2009 Miss Teen USA. I take my role and responsibilities seriously and will do my very best to represent you to the fullest of my ability. I am so excited to be part of such an amazing group of ladies led by Chelsee Atkins. To all of my sister queens, you are absolutely gorgeous, inside and out. I can’t wait to spend this next year with all of you!

Lots of Love

Katherine “Katie” Greene!
